Simon Wall is the headteacher of Lexden Springs special school in Colchester, Essex. The school caters for students aged from 3 to 19 years of age with autism and/or severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school offer is highly therapeutic and has the NFER research mark. The school accommodates 170 pupils currently this will rise to 200 as the school moves to a new building with residential accommodation for 30 students. The school works very closely with the local teaching school and offers salaried teacher training positions through the local consortium. The school offers outreach and training to the local main stream primaries and trainee teachers.
Simon started his journey in education in Leicester before moving to Essex. He has a wide range of both main stream and special school experience from SEMH to PMLD and has been in special education for the last 23 years.
Simon is a member of Essex special school heads trust (ESSET) and represents the Essex special schools on the federation of leaders in special education (FLSE) eastern region management committee.
